    Sorry folks.

I have it on good authority from Diamond Book Distributors that the current state of Amazon.com - where most of the books in the Top 100 are now comics books, oversized graphic novels priced at $8.34 and $14.99 no matter what the original price (sometimes up to $125) - is a glitch.

    And it's being fixed.

In all likelihood if your order is being processed, then you're getting those books at that price and someone will probably have to eat the difference. If not, expect to get a firm but polite email from Amazon explaining that you won't be getting these books at the price you ordered them at - though you are welcome to purchase them at the usual discount rate.

It's been a weird wild ride at Bleeding Cool today, with all sorts of people cming out of the woodwork to order new shelves worth of comics.

But if there is a lesson here, it's this. Comics are too expensive, You make them cheaper, much cheaper, and people will buy them. Buy lots of them. Buy them more than anything on Amazon.

You don't and they won't. Unless it's Twilight.

Well here's hoping. My preorder of the Invincible Iron Man Omnibus is what I'm thinking they might cancel on me. Hopefully the Ultimates Omnibus will slide through since it was already in stock.

Either way, like Rich said ... we are having to forgo our food to buy comics (luxury my arse!) ... and the companies should bloody well cut costs for us!

I went to order that Iron Man Omnibus about ten minutes ago, and the listing says it's not longer available . And my order for the Ultimates Omnibus says it will ship in 1 to 2 weeks, which I take it will now mean that I won't see it at $8.24.

Ah well, it'll be great if my other stuff comes through, but if not, then no harm. Can't miss what I never had and all that.

Just my luck that this happens the first sunny day in months, and therefore I only find out about it at half six!
Don't look at me, it was like that when I got here!

I just checked my Amazon account and here's what I got confirmed in the system [non-cancellable orders]:

Powers: The Definitive Collection, Vol 2 [$14.99]
Powers: The Definitive Collection, Vol 3 [$14.99]
New X-Men: Ultimate Collection, Vol 2 TPB [$14.99]
New X-Men: Ultimate Collection, Vol 3 TPB [$14.99]
    Avengers Forever HC [$14.99]
Invincible: The Ultimate Collection, Vol 2 [$14.99]

I guess these were in-stock and thank the gods for computer errors and automation.

Keeping my fingers crossed on Criminal Deluxe Edition and Wolverine: Old Man Logan HC as I'm supposed to get them by later this week and they have the same ship date as some of the stuff above.

I just hope Amazon considers me a good enough customer to eat more losses to keep my business.

I'm crossing my fingers that everything in my cart/confirmation email makes it through. Ah well, if not, it goes back to that great old sayin of "if it sounds to good to be true...."

    LOL.

    That was fun regardless, though.

As other people have noted, if it does not go through, you just shrug and go "oh well".

Though it's probably too late to order more of this stuff.

I have Amazon Prime [one month trial period] and I wonder if it helps in processing your orders quicker. I wonder if my orders will got slotted before others in order to get me my books within the 2 shipping days.

I saw this start up this morning and I was pretty sure this would be how it would turn out. There's no way anyone could find an upside for selling these books at was their likely cost to print with free shipping.

Be interesting to see how much of this Amazon lets go through. Also interested in hearing how this Diamond-stock glitch happened.

If there's an upside, it's that Amazon will have to heavily reorder a great number of books to restock over this debacle, putting more money into the publisher & creator's hands in this economy.
